Hi friends!
February is the month of love — love stories, love letters, cozy reading nights, extra blankets, and my favorite part — so many books about LOVE. It’s been in the single digits here in NYC, and with the freezing temps, I find myself curling up by the fire with a book every chance I get.
And speaking of books about love… we have quite the love story in store for you at Thousand Voices, and it comes out in less than ONE WEEK! More on that below…
We have so much to cover in this edition — from swoon-worthy tours and beautiful cover reveals to heartfelt reader moments and book club connections. This season is all about celebrating the stories (and the readers) we adore most, and we can’t wait to do that with you.
Calling All Book Clubs!
We’re so thrilled to share that Thousand Voices Books is now offering virtual author visits for book club meetings! If you’d love the chance to have Ariel Sullivan (Conform, Beneath) or Debra Curtis (Laws of Love and Logic) join your group for a discussion, simply fill out this form! And save this link — we’ll be adding our future authors as options when their books come out!
Ariel has been joining book clubs virtually for the past few months, and it’s been such a treat for her to interact with y’all directly — to answer questions, hear your fan theories, and give a sneak peek at her next book, Beneath. Any book club, big and small, is welcome to apply. We hope you do!
A Spring Surprise: Meet Little Wonder
We have some very exciting news to share — we’re adding a new title to our spring Thousand Voices list, and this one took my breath away… Is it too early to say that I think this book will become an instant hit?! Maybe! But, I do, and you’ll see why.
This novel has stayed with me for months after finishing… it’s about so many things — but most importantly, hope — something I think we could all use a little more of right now.
Meet Little Wonder by Sophie Chen Keller, out June 16th.
Little Wonder by Sophie Chen Keller
Song is a nobody—just a food delivery worker from a village in Northeastern China—but her son, River, is a little wonder.
At the age of four, he toddled to a piano and tapped out his favorite song. At eight, he mastered Liszt’s three Liebestraume; at ten, he blazed through the complete set of Chopin’s études. And at every step, through the valleys of loss, illness, and poverty, Song is there to light his way—until finally, at the age of eleven, River is invited to study with a preeminent teacher in Beijing.
But in the chaos of Beijing Railway Station on the busiest day of the year, Song faces every mother’s nightmare: She loses her grip on River’s little hand and is unable to find him after a desperate, harrowing search.
Over the next days, weeks, and eventually, years, Song and River fight to forge a path back to each other as they carve out new lives that carry them farther apart. An evocative exploration of a mother’s love and a son’s yearning, Little Wonder takes us on an extraordinary journey through a modern Beijing that pulses with the music of humanity and its impossible—and impossibly brave—hopes.
As every musician knows: You start in one key. You wander to other keys, strange and distant places. But in the end, you always come back home.
It’s so hard for me to put into words what this book made me feel, so let me have some of my favorite authors do it for me…
Enter: the perfect book for February, Laws of Love and Logic by Debra Curtis
February is such a specific reading month for me. It doesn’t have the new year energy of January (I love a memoir or self-help book for Jan), but it’s still not spring. It’s quiet, slow, introspective. You’re still bundled up, often cooped up inside, with more time to read and reflect.
So when I’m choosing what to read this time of year, there are a few key ingredients I tend to gravitate toward:
Love… obviously!
I like to lean into it being the month of love whenever I can. We can all use a little more of it right now.
Yearning
One of my favorite emotions a book can evoke. The quiet ache of wanting — a person, a place, a version of your life that once was. February has such yearning vibes — cold days, lots of time inside… with lots of room for reflection.
Love over time
Not just how love begins (although I love those stories, too), but how it endures, shifts, and leaves its mark. The relationships we carry with us long after they end…Hope
February is still very much winter, but you can feel spring coming. I’m always drawn to stories that acknowledge how hard life can be, while still leaving room for goodness.
Debra Curtis’ debut has all of these and more. One of my favorite authors, Mary Beth Keane (Ask Again, Yes), put it perfectly:
“A sparely written but powerfully moving portrait of first love, and the people who remain part of us no matter what life brings. I adore a story that spans a long time, as this one does, and I especially love a story that, when I finish, leaves me with a feeling of hope…”
And just for the fun of it…

Laws of Logic and Love sounds so good and my type of book! Can’t wait to read!
I just finished an advanced audio copy of this book and it is so good! My first fiction read of the year and my head is spinning with many thoughts after finishing! I was pulled into Lily’s story more and more as it went along!
